Bernadette Macdonald is an experienced musculoskeletal physical therapist with a broad range of experience gained in a variety of clinical settings. She has specialized in the musculoskeletal field for many years and has a particular interest in spinal function and the evolving field of pain science.
Bernadette gained licensure as a physical therapist in 1989, at Grampian School of Physical Therapy in the UK. Following completion of her BS in Physical Therapy she went on to gain with distinction, an MPT and a Manual Therapy Qualification in 2003, allowing her to become a select member of Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physical Therapists. She combines a holistic approach to assessment, in addition hands-on clinical skills and variety of exercise-based approaches to achieve the best possible outcome for each patient’s needs.
Over her clinical career she has always sought to improve her clinical knowledge and skills through a combination of self–study, professional courses and attending conferences. She has been actively involved in audits and research in low back pain and in audit of quality of aspects of the physical therapy process that are important for patient care. In her most recent clinical role as Lead Physical Therapist in a citywide Back Pain Service, she provided a specialist resource to patients and junior staff.
In her free time, she enjoys kickboxing, hiking and yoga and spending time with her family and friends.
